The participants of 7th International Baltic Sea Choir Competition are known

From September 20 to 22, the 7th International Baltic Sea Choir Competition will be held in Jurmala, in which ten choirs from eight countries of the world – Philippines, Spain, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Latvia – will participate this year.
The following will compete for the title of Grand Prix winner and the opportunity to enter the European Grand Prix final of the choral music competition:
Mixed choirs:
- “Imusicapella” from the Philippines;
- The Chamber choir of Oñati from Spain;
- “Moraviachor” from the Czech Republic;
- Carl Johan Chamber Choir from Sweden;
- “Ahjo ensemble” from Finland;
- Latvian Academy of Culture’s mixed choir “Sola” from Latvia;
- Latvian University mixed choir “Juventus” from Latvia.
Female / male choirs:
- “Viva” from Lithuania;
- “Vino ensemble” from Finland;
- Estonian National Opera Male Choir.

The International Baltic Sea Choir Competition is an annual international choral music event that has been held in Jurmala since 2016. Every year, in the second half of September, several hundred amateur choir singers and supporters of choral music from different countries of the world gather in the Dzintari concert hall. You can also follow the progress of the contest live on TV24 and Facebook Live. Contestants compete in the semi-final categories of both Compulsory and Free programs, as well as in the Grand Prix final. The compulsory piece for this year’s compulsory program was created by Latvian composer Georgs Pelēcis. The performance of choirs in the competition is evaluated by a highly professional and international jury.
Starting from this year (2024) Latvia is one of the members of the world’s most prestigious choral music competition, the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing (EGP). This means that the winner of the Grand Prix title of this year’s competition will get the right to participate in the EGP final in 2025, competing with the winners of the other five EGP stages, among which the world’s best amateur choir will be determined.
The competition is supported by the municipality of Jūrmala and the State Cultural Capital Fund.
Tickets are available at “Bilešu paradīze” ticket offices and on the Internet.
