2022

SUMMARY

In the 5th International Baltic Sea Choir Competition 6 choirs from 5 countries participated: mixed choir HÄGERSTEN A CAPPELLA from Sweden, female choir MUSMARI from Estonia, TURKU CONSERVATORY CHAMBER CHOIR from Finland, Poznań University of Technology choir VOLANTES SONI from Poland and two Latvian participants – mixed choir VENTSPILS and EMĪLS DĀRZIŅŠ MIXED CHOIR. The mixed choir of Ropaži region “Pa Saulei” and the mixed choir of Mārupe region “Maska” performed as special guests during the competition.

The compulsory piece “Amor vincit omnia” was composed by Selga Mence.

Grand Prix winner of the 5th International Baltic Choir Competition was mixed choir HÄGERSTEN A CAPPELLA CHOIR from Sweden (conductor Kerstin Börjeson).

The chairman of the jury was Eugeniusz Kus from Poland and jury members were Анжела Масленнікова (Ukraine), Hirvo Surva (Estonia), Egidijus Kaveckas (Lithuania) and Uģis Prauliņš (Latvia).

Special guest of Closing concert – vocal group “Latvian Voices”.

80,07 points – Poznan University of Technology Choir VOLANTES SONI. Conductor: Paweł Łuczak

81,00 points – Turku Conservatory Chamber Choir. Conductor Timo Lehtovaara

87,00 points – Emils Darzins Mixed Choir. Conductor Rihards Lapiņš.

88,67 points – 3rd place and monetary prize of 1000 Eur: Female chamber choir MUSAMARI. Conductor Ode Pürg

92,67 points – 2nd place and monetary prize of 2000 Eur: the mixed choir VENTSPILS. Conductor Aigars Meri

94,33 points and the Winner of 5th International Baltic Sea Choir Competition who got Jurmala City GRAND PRIX trophy and Latvijas valsts meži monetary prize of 3500 Eur: HÄGERSTEN A CAPPELLA. Conductor Kerstin Börjeson.
