The International Baltic Sea Choir Competition is an annual international choral music event that has been held in Jūrmala since 2016. Every year in the second half of September, several hundred amateur choir singers and choral music enthusiasts from different countries gather at the Dzintari Concert Hall. The competition will also be streamed live on TV24 and balticchoir.com. The competing choirs participate in both the compulsory and optional program semifinals, as well as the Grand Prix final. This year’s compulsory program features a new work, “Song of Innocence” by Latvian composer Arturs Maskats. The choirs’ performances are evaluated by a professional and international jury.
Since 2024, Latvia has been a member of the world’s most prestigious choral music competition, the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing (EGP).
The competition is supported by the Jūrmala City Municipality and the State Culture Capital Foundation.
