The Choir of the University of Economics in Katowice

The Choir of the University of Economics in Katowice (Chór Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Katowicach) was established in March 2006. The Conductor of the Choir since March 2013 has been Michał Brożek.
The Choir has 90 members, consisting of students, graduates, university employees and people from outside the university.
The team represents the University of Economics in Katowice mainly during academic ceremonies, concerts and regional events, competitions and choral music festivals in Poland and worldwide.
The Choir has performed in Italy, Lithuania, Turkey, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, North Macedonia, China, and Greece.
The team has won many awards in national and international competitions, such as: the prof. Józef Świder 9th International Festival of Music in Cieszyn, Poland (2024), the Grand Prix of the 61st C.A. Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competition in Gorizia, Italy (2024), and the XXIII International Festival of Choir Music by Felix Nowowiejski in Barczewo, Poland (2024).
The repertoire of the Choir covers early, classical, romantic and contemporary music including compositions with sacral theme, arrangements of popular music, songs inspired with folk of various nations, as well as vocal and instrumental performances, such as: Wojciech Kilar’s Missa pro Pace, Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater, and Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem.
The Choir of the University of Economics in Katowice has also been the organizer of the Metropolitan Choral Festival since 2018. The 7th edition took place in April 2025.
