Children’s Choir LASTIVKA

Founded in 2005 in Kyiv by Oksana Ursatii, the “Lastivka” (Swallow) Children’s Choir operates as a choral studio where young singers study academic vocal art, solfeggio, and piano. Under Oksana Ursatii’s leadership, the collective has been awarded the titles of “Exemplary Artistic Collective” (2011) and “National Art Collective” (2021). For her significant professional achievements, Oksana Ursatii was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament of Ukraine) “For Merits to the Ukrainian People”.

The choir is a frequent winner of international competitions across Europe. In 2019, “Lastivka” achieved great success at the 58th Seghizzi Competition in Italy, winning multiple gold medals and a special award to the conductor for the competition program of the greatest artistic interest. Recent achievements include Gold Awards at the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna (2021, 2023) and a 1st Prize at the 23rd International S. Simkus Choir Competition in Lithuania. In July 2025, the choir received a Gold Medal and a Special Award for the “Best Performance of a Demanding Program” in Preveza, Greece.

Dedicated to cultural diplomacy, “Lastivka” performed the world premiere of Lorenz Maierhofer’s “The Light of Future” in the Frauenkirche Cathedral in Dresden. In 2018, the choir’s Christmas program was recorded and broadcast by the national TV channel UA: Culture.

Despite the challenges of the ongoing war, the collective continues its mission, often rehearsing in underground shelters to maintain high artistic standards. Their vast repertoire spans from sacred Renaissance masterpieces to vibrant Ukrainian contemporary works and folklore.
